500 steel bowls filled with salt are distributed in clusters across the space. The grouped bowls play games with reflection and color as the ambient light shifts. Their clusters grow more dense as they approach a small pile of salt in the back of the space. In the pile, a hole appears into another location, a high seas journey. Looking across the gallery one sees another window into an alternate space and yet another maritime odyssey.
2011 marks the 500 year anniversary of Baracoa, Cuba's oldest Spanish settlement and the second oldest post-colonial settlement in the Americas.
